Aluminum Hydroxide in Fire Retardant Coatings for Wire and Cable

With the rapid development of social economy, science and technology, and the continuous improvement of people's material and cultural level, high-rise buildings, underground projects, large space buildings, power communication departments, large enterprises continue to appear, and their internal wires and cables are widely used. In order to prevent the occurrence and development of cable fires and reduce the economic losses caused by them, fire retardant coatings are used as flame retardant protection for cables, it is of great significance to prevent the initial fire and slow down the spread of the fire, ensure the safety of the country and people's lives and property, and promote the cause of fire control.

As a special coating, cable fire retardant coating is composed of two parts: base material and flame retardant additive (aluminum hydroxide). In addition to the decorative effect of ordinary coating and the physical protection of cable substrate, it also needs to have the special function of flame retardant and refractory.

After aluminum hydroxide flame retardant materials added to the fire performance of fire retardant coatings, smoke production, corrosion and other experiments to draw the following conclusions:

1. Aluminum hydroxide not only has a good flame retardant effect with a small amount, but also greatly improves the fire resistance and physical and chemical properties of the cable fire retardant coating, while reducing the cost.

2. When adding aluminum hydroxide flame retardant, it has obvious smoke elimination effect on the cable fire retardant coating, which can make the fire retardant coating not only produce smoke and toxic gas when burning, but also have good flame retardant and heat insulation effect.

3. The technical route of adding aluminum hydroxide flame retardant is adopted in the cable fire retardant coating, so that when the cable fire retardant coating is obtained, the coating expands and foams well and densely, forming a dense and uniform fire insulation layer to provide effective fire protection for the cable. However, when the amount of aluminum hydroxide flame retardant is 7%, the cable fire retardant coating has good fire resistance, good physical and chemical properties and clothing resistance.
